Living in the most uncertain times of lives, like youth, adulthood, or old age.. or perhaps the pandemic!? Times have changed, lives have changed, and everything we breathe and perceive has changed. So has our health in all aspects: physical health, mental health, social health, cognitive health, emotional health, cultural health, and spiritual health.&nbsp;
The pandemic of Covid 19 has hit the lives of all humans and animals in a turbulent way. For a few, it has been a blissful experience, but mostly all of our lives have been affected in one way or the other. Once an individual is tested positive for the disease or a dear one has been tested positive for the same, the Battle begins..!

The Battle and Battleship for COVID is the toughest and most mysterious way to fight the way out. &ldquo;I got tested positive for COVID in April 2021. It has not been easy since. My family and I got tested positive at the same time. My parents and I were living in the same house but in different rooms. Being confined in the same room for 24 days was nothing less than torture. It was scary because the terrifying feeling of being diagnosed positive for the disease made me stop thinking clearly. Like all, there was a rush of millions of thoughts all the time&hellip;I hope nothing happens to my parents, I hope they are taking all the medicines on time, from where should I arrange the food, how can I ask for help from anyone, who will get the essentials like milk, how are they going to make tea for themselves in such a condition&hellip;thoughts and thoughts..only never-ending thoughts. No, it does not stop here, on top of all the hustle and bustle in my head was the panic and pressure put on me by my relatives. The never-ending calls and messages, how are you? What is the update on things? Yes, I needed support but what I needed more was understanding. I got irritable and stopped answering any calls after the first few days. Cutting out the toxic people who were creating so much pressure was a relief like no other. Over the days my anxiety continued because you know the &ldquo;unknown diesel&rdquo;. After 15 days, my parents were better and I felt some relief. I got time to concentrate on myself. I&nbsp; began to plan my day, draw a schedule for myself, monitor my health, and take precautions when I needed to pick up anything that was outside my room. All these small steps helped me keep a tap on my life (physically&nbsp; and mentally).&rdquo;

The disease that we are exploring has made our lives uncertain in the most definite way possible. Like in the above case, the individual took various steps to control the anxiety that also helped in the process of recovery from a physical disease of the COVID which impacted mental health. Various studies conclude that even in the most uncertain times, small measures can help us. Factors found to be associated with increased resilience during COVID-19 included:
1. social support from family
2. friends and loved ones
3. increased physical activity and
4. exposure to sunlight
5. maintaining spiritual health.&nbsp;
6. Technology was also an important factor in supporting the resilience of people.
Several endeavors such as virtual counseling services, free online workouts, ideas for new hobbies, and virtual social gatherings were made possible through the use of technology.

Some individuals have reported the various techniques they have used to prevent a mental breakdown when tested positive for the disease. Some of these are:
1. keeping a check on your health&nbsp;
2. regular monitoring of vitals and various symptoms&nbsp;
3. maintaining a routine of life even while being confined within the walls of your room&nbsp;
4. reaching out to the professionals and the organizations which helped the individuals at home&nbsp;
5. maintaining a thought diary
6. taking rest&nbsp;
7. doing some exercises which do not put a strain on the body&nbsp;
8. being in touch with friends and family who are helpful&nbsp;
The most important is to keep updated with the authentic facts and scientific findings related to the COVID 19, as rumors and overload of information cause more panic than support.&nbsp;

You might say that it is easier said than done, which is 100% true. Being a professional in the field of mental health I can say, yes it is not easy, going through something as good as unknown is not easy. So to manage it in a healthy way various steps can be taken. When you don&rsquo;t know what to do, seek help! Healthy coping strategies may be taught to you. Because yes even when things are bad, we can stop them from getting worse. At least TRY!
