Furthermore, familiarizing yourself with the LGBTQ culture can also help you to have a fruitful conversation with your child.&nbsp;

1. Creating a Non-Judgemental and a Safe Environment
Letting your child express their true essence is very important because your child will not only feel safe but will also look forward to having a more meaningful conversation with you, which can be beneficial for both of you in the long run.&nbsp;&nbsp;
2. Letting your child know they are loved&nbsp;
Coming out to parents of the LGBTQ youth never comes easy. This stage is already a time of fright and anxiety for your child. So you have to keep in mind that acceptance is the key.&nbsp;To make your child feel loved it is not necessary to be an expert on the topic of LGBTQ. Using affirmations like "I am here for you", and "I accept you no matter what" is already enough for your child to know that they have all the support they need.&nbsp;

4. Embracing the facts&nbsp;
It can be very difficult for a parent when their child has recently come out. But at the same time, it is vital to use your words very carefully and wisely.&nbsp;Avoid using phrases like &ldquo;This is a phase, you will get over it&rdquo;, and &ldquo;There are cures for this&rdquo;. Instead, validate your child&rsquo;s feelings and learn some facts and figures about the LGBTQ community.&nbsp;
5. Looking out for Bullying&nbsp;
Much of LGBTQ youth face discrimination and bullying from their fellow schoolmates and classmates. So, as a parent, it is important to look out for your child.&nbsp;
Some signs that your child might be getting bullied are:-&nbsp;

(b.) Unexpected absences&nbsp;
(c.) Sudden shift in behavior

6. Attending Pride Parade&nbsp;
Look up locally to attend a pride parade or a festival and attend it with your child. This way you will connect with your child at a more emotional level and also will help you to know more about the LGBTQ community. So make sure you go to a pride parade or a festival to celebrate love as well as your child.&nbsp;
