In the case of hemodialysis patients, the treatment occurs twice or thrice a week. On the days where the person does not get the treatment, the body stores excess fluids and wastewater, as the kidney cannot filter them out. Hence, fluid control becomes necessary due to the following reasons-
1) More fluid intake can increase blood pressure&nbsp;
2) It may lead to accumulation of fluid in the lungs
3) Cause difficulty in breathing
4) Sudden drop of blood pressure
5) Heart problems like high pulse, weak heart muscles, and enlarged heart may persist

Ways by which fluid intake could be managed are:
&nbsp;
1.&nbsp; &nbsp;Limiting the salt intake and spicy food.
2.&nbsp; &nbsp;Not eating fruits and vegetables with high water content.
3.&nbsp; &nbsp;Staying in a cooler room or environment to reduce thirst.
4.&nbsp; &nbsp;Switching to cooler liquids over hot beverages.
5.&nbsp; &nbsp;Take medication while eating food to reduce consumption of excess fluid.
6.&nbsp; &nbsp;It is important to consume the desired amount of liquid allowed to be converted to ice or ice cubes.
7.&nbsp; &nbsp;When the mouth becomes dry often, use of mouthwash or brushing can help.

Apart from following these techniques, the most important rule would be to track the intake of fluid in a journal from time to time so the dialysis treatment could work properly.
